Beatrice Fihn director of ICAN - the Nobel Peace Prize winner of 2017 - was the keynote speaker at Ikonferansen 2018. Her speech "What does gender have to do with nuclear weapons?" explored how the fight against nuclear weapons can, and outght to, be analyzed from a gender perspective. She also argued that the issue ought to be connected to many of the other large social struggles we see today.

"Ikonferansen - Equality yesterday, today, tomorrow" is a conference held by Centre for Gender and Equality at the University of Agder, Norway. The conference is based on a broad definition of equality, and wanted to ask what we have learned from earlier equality work, where we are today, and what consequences we may see from todays policy in the future. The first rendition was held on the 6th and 7th of june 2018, and will return as a biennial event.
